Fire reports were coming in thick and fast for all of this week. This fire was the first of four fires our crew would go to in two days. Located up Carnes Creek, this fire was about 10 metres by 3 metres and located on very steep ground. Ironically the ground just above and just below from the fire was pretty flat but as has been typical of most of our fires, the burned area was ridiculously steep. The last two pictures show the tree which was hit by lightning. When lightning hits a tree, it follows the grain of the wood down, often blowing the bark off.
