A day after Fire 164 we were sent out to Fire 182. The call again came at about three in afternoon and pretty much garanteed another overnighter. We flew up to the reported location near Downie Creek to find another alpine fire (yes, that is snow surrounding the fire). This fire was a little bigger than the previous two at 0.1 hectares (approximate 100m long by 10m wide) and was exhibiting some decent flame and candling. We worked until dark, set up camp and had our dinner around the campfire. The next morning we finished putting the fire out and got picked up shortly after noon. It was hard to believe that I was getting paid to work and camp in areas that tourists pay big money to access.
